What is Early intervention?
-Identifying and providing effective early support to children and young people who are at risk of poor outcomes.
Aim:
-Prevent problems occurring
-Foster personal strengths and skills that prepare a child for adult life
-Reduce the risk factors and increase the protective factors in a child’s life
Benefits of early intervention
- Early intervention can strengthen parents’ and caregivers’ capacity to support children’s development.
- It can help children develop the skills they need to live happy, healthy and successful lives.
- Works to reduce the negative impacts of disadvantage.
- Leaving problems unresolved in childhood also impacts on society and the economy.

Physical- Obesity and physical health
Cognitive- school achievemtn and entry into the workforce
Social and emotional- mental health and wellbeing
