- Syncytiotrophoblast: outer layer of cells, aids in adhesion into endometrial wall

Implantation Hormones

A

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG):

  • Secreted by Trophoblast cells (later by Chorion)
  • Maintains Corpus Luteum to prevent menstruation and continues secretion of Progesterone/Estrogen
  • hCG levels decline as placenta forms
