Dynamic Targeting Flashcards

1
Q

Most important aspect of detailed targeting (2)

A

detailed commander s objectives and guidance and the CCIRs are the most important elements of effective DT

The guidance should articulate risk tolerance to help subordinate commanders understand the intent when DT requires accelerated coordination

Q

Definition of Dynamic Targets

A

Targets identified too late, or not selected, for action in time to be included in deliberate targeting but when detected meet criteria specific to achieving objectives. When plans change and planned targets must be adjusted, DT can also manage those changes. Dynamic targets include several subcategories.

Q

Key facts about F3EAD (5)

A

provides maneuver leaders at all levels with a methodology that enables them to organize resources and array forces across the range of operations

Address Certain targeting challenges

F3EAD is not a replacement for D3A nor it is exclusive to targeting…work best at the tactical level

Suit well HVI, cells, and networks

Exploit and analyze steps are often the main efforts of F3EAD because they provide insight into the enemy s network and may open new lines of operations

Q

Find (4)

A

the process of establishing a start point for intelligence collection.
Take place at all levels of both the intelligence and operations system
Confirm probable HVI, focus sensors, locate, determine time available
Deliberate or opportunity based

Q

Fix (2)

A

Applying intelligence collection capability against the target in order to develop operational triggers to fix the target in time and space

Simply means that the intelligence effort has progressed enough that the operations function has sufficient information to execute the mission

Q

Analyze

A

is where the information gained in find, fix, finish, and exploit turns into intelligence which can be used to drive operations

The exploit, analyze, and disseminate steps amplify the assess function.

Q

Disseminate

A

One of the keys to success of F3EAD is the creation of a wider dissemination network than as traditionally been practiced inside the US intelligence community

“a network to defeat a network”
