List some signs of strangulation.

What are some questions to ask strangulation victims?
- Was it with one hand or two?
- Did he use another part of the body?
- Was it from the front or behind?
- Was a ligature used?
- How did it stop?
- What did you feel or think?

What should always be done in strangulation cases?
Always call EMS
What is a spontaneous/excited utterance?
Statements made by victims
What must spontaneous utterances include?
Must be verbatim and in quotation marks
When may spontaneous utterances occur?
During 911 calls, volatile scene, or medical treatment
What should be included in injury documentation?
- Location
- Type of injury

What are the duties of responding officers in DV cases under Rule 372AA?
Immediate safety, request PS to scene, comply with 209A, list occupation as ‘dept. Employee’, remain on scene until relieved by superior, and NEVER MISCEL A CALL.
What does Chapter 258E address?
It addresses victims of criminal harassment, stalking, and sexual assault, regardless of relationship with the defendant.
