Drugs: Part Three Flashcards
What kind of drug is Alipogene Tiparvovec (Glybera)? What is it used for?
It is a gene-therapy cure. It is used for Lipoprotein lipase deficiency.
What is Epoetin Alpha (Procrit, Epogen)?
Recombinant erythropoietin.
What is Darbepoetin Alpha (Aranesp)?
Sequence-modified, highly glycosylated EPO with increased half-life.
What is Peginesatide (Omontys)?
A chemically modified peptide that mimics erythropoietin.
What is Methoxy Polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta (Micera, CERA)?
A conjugate of EPO to polyethylene glycol. Gives a 20-fold longer half-life. It continuously activates the erythropoietin recepter.
What is Vadadustat?
HIF prolyl-hydroxylase inhibitor. (Allows for greater HIF2 production, allowing for more erythropoeitin under normal conditions.)
What kind of drug is Finasteride?
It is a selective inhibitor of type 2 5a-reductase.
What kind of drug is Flutamide?
Androgen receptor antagonist.
What kind of drug is Enzalutamide?
Androgen receptor antagonist.
What kind of drug is Bicalutamide?
Androgen receptor antagonist.
What kind of drug is Abiraterone (Zytiga)?
A CYP17 inhibitor.
What is Enanthate?
Inject-able testosterone.
What is Cypionate?
Inject-able testosterone.
What kind of drug is Norgestrel?
Progestin-only contraceptive drug.
What kind of drug is Norethindrone?
Progestin-only contraceptive drug.
