What is HAART therapy?

Cyclosporine Indications:
-prevention of rejection of kidney, liver, heart
-ibd, psoriasis, arititisis
Cyclosporine classification:
immunosuppressant Agent
Cyclosporine mech of action:
suppresses t-lymphocyte lines, each drug different
cyclosporine contraindications:
allergy, renal/hepatic failure, HTN
cyclosporine adv effects:
risk for opportunistic infections, risk for cancer, nephrotoxicity, post-transplant DM, seizures
cyclosporine interactions:
toxicity, grapefruit, herbal remedies
prednisone mech of action:
synthesis of certain proteins, metabolism, anti-inflammatory agents, suppress immune system
prednisone adv effects:
weight gain, fragile skin, IOP, Cushing’s syndrome, nervousness, insomnia
prednisone interactions:
non-potassium sparing diuretics, NSAIDS, antidiabetics, anti cholinesterase
prednisone indications:
adrenocortical deficiency, adrenogential syndrome, organ transplant, bacterial meningitis, SLE, cerebral edema, eye issues
prednisone contraindications:
allergies, septicemia, Gerd, diabetes, lactation, cardiac/renal/liver issues
prednisone client teaching:
rinse mouth to prevent fungal infections, no NSAIDS, tapered down, take in morning same time every day to prevent insomnia
prednisone nursing implications:
I&O, labs, edema, check for electrolyte imbalances, skin condition, PUD, OTC’s, inflammation going down
prednisone classification:
glucocorticosteriods
what is a tetanus shot for?

tetanus is given when?
12-15 months, 4-6 years, booster every 10 years
