Edema :
Hydrocholorothiazide 25 to 100 mg
Torsemide 5 to 10
Butemide 0.5 to 2 mg

Furosemide 20 to 80 mg
Triamterene 37.5 t and 25 hydro/ 75 t and 50 hydro
Spinolactone 25 to 200 mg
Metolazone 5 to 25
Hypertension ( except Butemide)
Spinolactone ( Hypokalemia, Hyperaldosterone )
Diuretic MOA
inhibits reabsorption of Na
Triamterenr: Inhibits Na + in exchange for K
Spinolactone: Comp antagonist of aldosterone
Torsemide : Inhibit Na/K/Cl carrier system
Diuretic Contraindications
anuria
sensitive to sulfa drugs
gout,cirrhosis,diabetes,
impaired renal/hepatic fxn, - - taking ACTH (Hydrochrothiazide)
Diuretic adverse effects
-All diuretics except toresimide
Dry mouth, muscle cramps, nausea, anemia,
hypotension, anorexia, hyperglycemia, rash
- Butemide and Furosemide : hearing loss
- Butemide : hypochloremia, hyponatremia ,hypokalemia, hyperglycemia
- Toresimide excessive urination
- Impaired hearing (but amide,furosemide)
Diuretics PC
take w/ food or milk
avoid sun
take in the morning
Monitor
K : Hydrochoro, Torsemide, Triamterene,Metolazone, Furosemide, Butemide ( except spinolactone chlorthalidone)
BP: Hydrochoro
Na: Metolazone

BPH adverse effects
Alfuzosin, Tamsulosin : floppy iris,priaprism Headache, fatigue, dizziness,
Tamsulosin: rhinitis,asthenia,sinustis
- Depression, erectile dysfuction, decreased libido,male infertility (Finasteride,Dutasteride)
BPH PC
Finasteride, Dustasteride: Pregnancy
Dustasteride : Men can’t donate blood
- Alfuzosin : take w/ food, same time everyday, don’t crush/chew, care w/ machinery
- Tamsulosin : take 30 min following meal, consult physician before stop
Monitor :
Alfuzosin : BP
Finasteride,Dutasteride : PSA
