Dorsal Scapular Muscles Flashcards
OINA's
Deltoid Action
clavicular (anterior): shoulder flexion and IR
acromial (middle): shoulder abduction
spinal (posterior): shoulder extension and ER
Deltoid PA
clavicle, acromion, spine of scapula
Deltoid DA
deltoid tuberosity of humerus
Deltoid Innervation
axillary nerve (C5, C6)
Pectoralis Major Action
- shoulder adduction, IR, horizontal adduction
- draws scapula anteriorly and inferiorly (protraction)
- clavicular head alone: shoulder flexion
- sternocostal head alone: shoulder extension (from flexed position)
Pectoralis Major PA
clavicular head: clavicle
sternocostal head: sternum, superior six costal cartilages, external oblique muscle
Pectoralis Major DA
lateral lip of intertubercular sulcus of humerus
Pectoralis Major Innervation
lateral and medial pectoral nerves
- clavicular head (C5, C6)
- sternocostal head (C7, C8, T1)
Pectoralis Minor Action
- stabilizes scapula by drawing it anteriorly and inferiorly against thoracic wall
- (w/ fixed scapula) assists in elevation of thorax during forced inhalation
Pectoralis Minor PA
ribs 3-5
Pectoralis Minor DA
coracoid process
Pectoralis Minor Innervation
medial pectoral nerve (C8, T1), lateral pectoral nerve
Infraspinatus Action
shoulder ER (main)
stabilize head of humerus in glenoid cavity
Infraspinatus PA
infraspinous fossa of scapula
Infraspinatus DA
greater tubercle of humerus
