Platina
compare to colocynthis, anacardium, lachesis, lycopodium
Respiratory conditions. dry, hacking, constricted, irritated cough worse from slight exertion, croup
anxiety, difficulty breathing, cough sounds like a seal bark or saw going through wood = croup. palpitations are worse at night. swelling of testes.
agg: before midnight, when lying supine. from heat.

Spongia tosta
violent, sudden headache that is bursting and pulsating, sudden tachycardia and palpitations

Glonoinum
similar to lachesis - cannot handle constriction around neck

Abdominal colic in hollow organs. Impatient, easily angered. during pains - easily angered, esp when humiliated. strong sense of right and wrong. sense of constriction “iron clamp”.

Colocynthis - Bitter Cucumber

Nausea and Vomiting
hemorrhaging red blood. migraine headaches, hemoptysis, cough, bronchitis, pertussis, rattling cough, nausea is unrelieved by vomiting, spasms and irritations.

Urinary Tract. urging when bladder is almost empty
sharp pain during and at the end of urination. less urge and dysuria when the bladder is full. polyuria. enuresis at night with children.

Equisetum - horsetail
compare to cantharis and conium
Pertussis-like cough
Holds chest from pain of coughing, coughing leaves them breathless, cough worse after midnight. whooping cough. vomiting from coughing. gasping for breath, tickling sensation. cyanosis
agg: after midnight, lying down, warmth of the bed, speaking, laughing, or coughing
amel: pressure of the hands
Drosera
(compare tuberculinum: cough is worse lying down)
(compare stramonium - croupy cough, but usu has fear, insecuirty, delusions)
coarse rattling mucus that cannot expectorate.
Wet cough, better when sitting up. overwhelming fatigue. tongue has a thick white coating and small amount of thick mucus feels nearly impossible to cough out. cyanosis of lips. irritable kids who cannot bear to be touched or looked at. pustular acne, chicken pox scars.
agg: heat, lying down

Antimonium Tartaricum
tuberculinum also has a cough worse lying down
very dry, dont want to be touched. concerned about material success and business
Painful dry cough worse with movement, hold their chest or head. serous/mucous membrane sxs. aching in every muscle. irritable. thirst for large quantities of cold water. constipation with dry hard stools. heavy swollen breasts.
agg: any motion or touch, 9 pm
amel: rest, lying on the painful side/pressure, sweating
Bryonia
compare aconite - also wants large cold water
Injuries with soreness and bruising
Averse to touch, restless. shock remedy when the victim feels ok but they are obviously injured and might refuse medical care. pain feels like a bruise.. irritable and averse to company. everything is too hard - pillow, bed. good for post op. restless and cant find a comfortable position. concussions.
agg: jarring, jolts, movement, slightest touch (averse to touch)
amel: rest and lying with head down
Arnica montana
(compare to other shock remedies - aconite, cinchona, carbo veg)
(compare to ruta and rhus tox - sensation of bed being too hard)
Nerve injuries with sharp/shooting or radiating pains
called “arnica of the nerves”. contusions, lacerations, punctures, pain after dentist, concussion, injuries of spine, phantom limb pain
agg: cold, touch, and pressure and movement.
Hypericum
(opp mag phos and bryonia - pain better with pressure)
(compare mag phos for neuralgia, bryonia and arnica pain worse with touch)
Puncture wounds, bruising
Wound feels cold but desire cold application to it. dark purple ecchymosis in areas of thin skin. bites and stings that do not itch, but are purple. inflammation ascends to proximal joints. gout. chilly individuals.
agg: heat, heat from bed

Ledum
opposite of urtica - stings do itch
bloated, bossy, bald, low self-esteem
GI complaints. bloating, flatulence, easy satiety. Better with open air, has anticipatory anxiety. dyspepsia. inferiority complex and prone to being bullies. constipation followed by loose stools.rashes. “brick dust urine”. bulimia. offensive smelling feet. chilly. fine features and deep brow furrows, anxious, bald, narrow chest and large abdomen. proud, authoritarian but easily offended with violent anger. stage fright.
agg: 4-8pm, tight clothing, in the am upon waking, warmth, contradiction. eating, cold beverages, milk, beans, cabbage, oysters.
amel: Craves sweets, cool temps. eructation and flatus. hot food and drinks help heartburn
Lycopodium
intellectual, extroverted, skin remedy
Diarrhea, worse in am, drives out of bed at 5 am. Craves sweets, overindulges in food and alcohol. Skin - acne. intelligence. social interaction issues - egotistical and critical of others. dont bathe regularly, disorganized. warm, stick feet out of the covers. blood sugar issues, skin, overindulgence in foods. itching and burning. fears heights, disease, infection, failure, and claustrophobia. sweats excessively and has offensive discharges but loves his own smell, cant stand odor of others. hemorrhoids itch or burn.
agg at 11 am with hunger and headahce, standing, heat of the bed
Sulphur
(compare to hepar sulph - offensive discharges)
(compare to graphites - skin conditions, but scaly and cracked, simple and down to earth)
(opp rhus tox and medorrhinum - sxs better with heat worse with cold)
anxious, controlling, perfectionists with a fear of health issues and dying
GI complaints. Anxious and controlling. Agg 12-2 am. Chilly and worse from exposure to cold. Worries about their health and germ exposure, death. constantly calling the doctor. Perfectionists, anxious when things dont go as planned. Likes to sip warm water. Pains are burning with restlessness and anxiety. vomiting from food poisoning. skin: herpetic eruptions, burning in nature. anxiety with a desire for reassurance. diarrhea has burning pains. are not overly pessimistic, but alternate between the two - optimism. their symptoms are very rhythmic.
agg: cold (except headaches), 12-2 am
amel: all forms of heat
Arsenicum album
(compare to nux vomica who is not as anxious and no fear of illness)
(compare to rhus tox - vesicular eruptions, chilly and better with warmth, however rhus tox is depressed not anxious)

(compare to nit acid, psorinum, nat sulph)
(compare to cantharis and sanguinaria - also burning)

-aconite = high strength but have a fear of dying
-arsenicum = weakness with a fear of dying, alternate between anxiety and exhaustion
-rhus tox= agitated but movement relieves their pain)
inconsolable, abnormally sensitive
Diarrhea, extreme irritability, bright green stool, Angry and warm. abnormally sensitive to pains, numbness, spasmodic. inconsolable children who are capricious, must be carried and fears the wind. adults have fits of anger when theyre usually nice. toothaches, earaches, hot sweats on head and face. fears the wind. gets hot and rids the covers at night.
Agg: 9 am, anger, coffee
amel: passive movement (rocked, carried, car/train)
Chamomilla
compare aconite - one cheek red/pale
irritable dysmenorrhea and cramping
Spasmodic dysmenorrhea, cramping pains and spasms. Oversensitive, irritable. right sided neuralgia. colic and pains. writers cramps, sciatica.
agg: light touch, cold, motion
amel: heat and pressure. Crave very cold drinks.
Magnesium phosphoricum (Phosphoricum part = cold drinks) (Magnesium part = better with heat)
high fever of unknown origin, bright red blood
hemorrhages from wounds, anemia, pale. chilly but thirst for cold water. cold hands and feet. right sided. Irritable, sensitive.
Ferrum phosphoricum (ferrum = fever) (phos = irritable, sensitive)
Hypersensitive, bleeds easily, hemorrhaging. fears being alone
Worse with heat, better with pressure. crave cold drinks, chocolate and ice cream. colds go to the chest. anxiety when alone. sensitive and sympathetic. unable to exert the mind. nose bleeds. bright red blood. increased sex drive. every cold goes to chest and coughs are tickling and lingering. sleeps well and refreshed by sleep. fears thunderstorms and something bad will happen. gets up at night to eat. sensitive to odors, noise and light. fears robbers, earthquakes, the future. incapable of moderation
agg: fasting, lying on left side, spicy foods, warm foods and salt, in the evening when the sun sets, being alone, in the dark
amel: cold drinks (but vomits when warmed in the stomach), eating, rubbing affected part
craves chocolate and ice cream
Phosphorus
(mag phos - also sensitive and better with pressure, but worse with heat)
(compare to lachesis - worse with heat and touch)
(opp sepia - apathetic and indifferenti, better alone, crave acidic foods)
(opposite sepia, arnica, and nat mur - who all desire to be alone)
urticaria of a allergic or cholinergic nature, edema with sensation of burning, rheumatic pains, cold water or applications does not help
agg: scratching
Urtica urens - stinging nettle
compare to apis - both have stinging, but cold water does not improve urtica
- hormonal and menstrual complaints, hot flashes, apathetic, prolapse*
chilly. depression, irritability, feels guilty about how they treat their family. morning sickness. nausea from smell of food. apathetic. desire to be alone. crave acidic foods, sweets, and sour things. apathetic and indifferent. candida. itching. uterine prolapse.
agg: 2-4 or 3-5 pm. before and during menses, pregnancy, miscarriage, abortion, sex
amel: strenuous exercise, occupation, evening. headaches are better from being in the sun.
Sepia
(compare to nux vom for nausea - also sensitive to odors and irritable, but crave spicy/fatty foods, not acidic)
(compare to pull for morning sickness, but craves fatty foods/butter)
(opposite sanguinaria and belladonna - headaches worse in the sun)
(compare to staph - worse from sex)
Quickly progressing acute complaints
redness, heat, bursting pains. red, hot, moist face with profuse sweating. intense dryness of mucous membranes. Perfectionistic, passionate, peace keeper. Fever - bright red face with dilated pupils and strong sensitivity to stimuli. pain worse with any motion, fright, flushed face and cold extremities. craves lemonade. thirst is variable.
agg: bright light, noise, temp change, motion, peaks 3PM or 11 AM, menses or hormone imbalance
amel: pressure, rest

Belladonna
compare to sanguinaria, headaches are worse in the sun, opposite sepia - headaches are better in the sunlight
Mania, violence, strong fears, short periods of excitation with long periods of fatigue
nervous system remedy. nervous exhaustion from intellectual work, sleep deprivation, prolonged worrying. spasmodic cougth, spasms, tremor, jerking. desires to be naked. pale face, pupils dilated. incontinence. extremely dry
agg: when lying down, emotions, jealousy or fright
amel: when sitting up
Hyoscyamus
(compare to belladonna - delirium, but B is more febrile with a red face and more violent)
(compare to stramonium - delirium but way more violent)
workaholic, cold clammy, sour perspiration
typically given for metabolism, bone and lymph tissue, and mucosal proliferation. Sour head perspiration esp at night that leaves pillow wet, obese, chilly (but wants cold drinks), restless sleep, constipation with urge. workaholic that burns out from exhaustion. “fat, fair, flabby”. headaches at the vertex - cutting or stabbing. heartburn. apprehensive. forgetful. fears loss of reason and mind. gets a cold with change in weather. chronic swollen tonsils as a kid. onset of GERD is gradual, not acute. eructations are sour. must wear socks to bed, but has cold clammy extremities.
agg: damp cold, intellectual or physical effort, the full moon. averse to boiled meats (wtf who boils their meat?)
amel: dry weather. cravings for sweets and eggs
Calcarea carbonica (compare to silica - constipation without urge, sweating of head and feet, also has swollen glands) (compare to nux vomica - constipation with ineffectual urging)
perfectionist, grief, headaches like hammers
grief remedy, disappointed love, but cannot weep. Depression more than anxiety. emotionally stoic or closed off, weep when listening to music. no suicidality or darkness. bashful kidneys, insomnia from thinking about grief and disagreements from the past.
agg: company and consolation. sun and heat, 10 am, fat, chicken. HA worse from light sun and reading
amel: craves salt, thirsty for ice cold drinks
Natrum muriaticum - sea salt
(compare perfectionism to arsenicum and nux vom, but different from them b/c likes cold drinks and more depressed than anxious)

(compare to ignatia - grief, cries after holding it in too long)
hypochondriacs, fears around ill health, irritable, pessimistic, depressed with stitching and splinter like pains
chilly, worse with cold. negative and irritable. depressed, but not suicidal. holds grudges. angry at life. fears death and caner. offensive odor, perspiration, discharges. herpes warts and fissures. hemorrhoids

nitricum acidum
(compare psorinum who is also pessimisitc, chilly, and anxious about future but has suicidal thoughts)
(compare arsenicum who has burning pains and anxiety about health, and are chilly, but not pessimistic)
(compare to hepar sulph who also has stitching/splinter like pains)
Drowsy, Droopy, Dazed
weakness, dizziness. thirstless. diarrhea, fatigue, occipital headache that spreads to the forehead, diplopia, head and eyelids droopy. nervous and fragile individuals who are emotional, tremble, and prone to nervous apprehension > diarrhea. quiet, reserved, timid. fear of crowds. insomnia from excitement.
agg: bad news, fright, excitement, emotion, 10am headache is worse
amel: leaning forward and moving, sweating, profuse urination
gelsemium - yellow jasmine
(opp than bryonia - better without movement)
(compare to belladonna thirstless and dizziness)
glandular enlargements, ascending paralysis, vertigo
vertigo improved with feet on a chair. lacrimation and photophobia. glandular enlargements (BPH, ovaries, breasts). sxs are slow and progressive. impotence or premature ejaculation, but have a high libido. anxious and depressed. lucid until their death. ascending paralysis of CNS. confused, dull, emotionally closed and flat.
agg: suppression of sexual desires, movements

conium - poison hemlock
compare to cantharis who has high libido but no impotence
severe, projectile vomiting with diarrhea, cold perspiration on forehead.
extreme weakness, state of collapse, cold, cramping. diarrhea is violent and profuse. V/diarrhea during menses. manic, deeply religious, believes he is christ or a prophet. very philosophical, critical and rude to others. cramps, twitches. hypersecretions. pale face, cyanosis of extremities. headache.
desires acidic foods and cold drinks.
veratrum album
(opp ipecac - nausea not relieved by vomiting)
(opp nux vomica - ineffectual attempts to vomit)
(opp ars album - food poisoning vomiting and fear)

periosteal and tendon injuries, pain constant. stiffness.
critical of others, anxious, panic disorder with fear of death. worse with cold and damp weather. crave warm drinks. weak and exhausted. restless. stiffness. eye strin.

ruta graveolens
(opp bryonia pain worse with motion)
(compare to rhus tox which is also worse with cold and damp, but crave cold milk)

fluid loss, hemorrhage, bloating
bloated, distention, without relief from belching or farting. nervous exhaustion, debility, periodic fevers, chills, hypersensitivity, moodiness, diarrhea, hemorrhage. shock remedy where there is fluid loss/hemorrhage. frightened. tinnitus, hypersensitivity to touch. fantasizes about heroic deeds at night - insomnia. irritable, sensitive, and touchy. intense thirst. debilitating sweats. fear of all animals. use in prevention of hemorrhage (surgery, etc)
agg: cold, light touch, fluid loss, cold drafts, fog, damp weather, fruit and milk and beer and fish (diarrhea)
amel: hard or strong pressure, bending over, heat
cinchona (china) officinalis
(compare to other shock remedies - aconite, arnica, carbo veg)
(compare to others that are better with pressure: colocynthis, bryonia, map phos, phos, bella, cinchona)
(opposite worse from pressure: equisetum, hypericum, kali carb, silica, eupatorium)
septic states with offensive discharges. restlessness, influenza
restlessness during fevers. tongue is red and shiny. entire body is bruised and aching. palpitations.
amel: movement and changing position
pyrogenium - decomposed lean beef
soft, timid, and easily influenced, changeable
emotional, morning sickness. constantly weeps. feels forsaken. crave fatty foods?, butter. creamy discharges, sxs are changeable in nature. dry mouth with no thirst. otitis media, tooth pain, bladder pain, worse at the end of urination or when trying to retain urine. irregular menses. feet are so hot they lay uncovered in bed. sleeps with hands over head.
agg: evening, heat, sun, fatty food. averse to fatty foods butter and pork. worse lying down in evening and night.
amel: consolation, open air and breezes. craves butter cream and whipped cream.
pulsatilla
cough from a tickle, better when covering head and mouth
dry and tiring cough that is violent and worse upon inhaling open or cold air. they always wear a scarf over the nose and mouth to warm inhaled air. morning diarrhea, intense itching.
agg: change in temperature
amel: sucking on candy and drinking
rumex crispus - yellow dock
compare to drosera, ant tart, sanguinaria
hacking cough, substernal tickling sensation. headaches that extend to right eye
burning chest pain. headache begins in the occiput and extends into right eye. periodic headache every 7 days. hay fever, watery coryza, burning in the nose, cough, pertussis, feet are hot at night and needs them uncovered.
agg: headaches worse from warmth and sun exposure. noise, odors, movements, light, smell of flowers.
amel: HA better from vomiting, sleep. passing flatus, and belching. evening
sanguinaria - bloodroot
