Tuckman Theory
- Team development theory which focuses on the way in which a team tackles a task from the initial formation of the team through to completion of the project

o Storming – the team address the task and conflicts of opinions / ideas arise which can result in confrontation due to different working styles. Can be destructive if not managed well.
o Norming – the shift towards a harmonious working practice with the team whereby they develop a plan to reach the common goal. There is a common understanding of different people’s strengths and weaknesses at this stage.
o Performing – high levels of independence, motivation, knowledge and competence at this stage. Limited friction at this stage.
o Mourning – team disbands e.g. when contractor comes on board, new team members, or novation.
