Distal Radius Fx Flashcards
What tests and associated nerves would you test on a PE of distal radius fx
- Thumbs up (posterior interosseous Nerve PIN)
- A ok sign (Anterior Interosseous Nerve AIN)
- Peace sign and crossing 2nd and 3rd finger (Ulnar N.)
PIN is branch off what nerve
radial
AIN is branch off what nerve
medial
What is a colle’s fx
- Dorsally displaced distal radius fx
- Extraarticular, FOOSH injury
- Apex anterior and Dorsally angulated
Frykman I and II
-Extra-articular radius (I)
+ ulnar styloid (II)
Frykman III and IV
-Radiocarpal intraarticular (III)
+ ulnar styloid (IV)
Frykman V and VI
-Radioulnar (V)
+ Ulnar styloid (VI)
Frykman VII and VIII
-Radiocarpal (intraarticular) and radioulnar
+ulnar styloid (VIII)
what eponym? Volar angulated extra-articular distal radius fx (from fall on a flexed wrist)
Smith
What eponym? Radial styloid fx
Chauffer’s
What eponym? Fracture dislocation of radiocarpal joint
Barton’s
What eponym? Depressed fx of lunate fossa of the articular surface of the distal radius
Die-Punch
What 3 values do you want to measure on a wrist xray and what values indicate surgery needed
- Radial inclination: >5 degree change
- Radial height: > 5 mm shortened
- Volar tilt: . . . Dorsal tilt >10 degree dorsal tilt
- Articular step off: >2 mm
What is normal slope of radial inclination
22 degrees
how do you measure radial height and what is normal
- two parallel lines that are perpendicular to the long axis of the radius
- one line at level of radial styloid and other at level of lunate fossa
- about 12 mm
