What does it mean to dissociate?
Psychologically flee and overwhelming situation that is usually beyond coping skills

Sports writer who climbed a mountain but on the way down his group got caught in a terrible blizzard that caused him to lose a sense of himself and feel detached like a robot
What is dissociative amnesia?
Memory loss caused by psychological trauma and has no memory but it is known that it floods back
What is a fugue state in relation to dissociative amnesia?
When the individual begins to believe they are someone else and take on a new identity
What is dissociative identity disorder (DID)?
Multiple personality disorder
When is DID thought to begin?
In childhood before 8 years old
What causes DID?
Intense abuse(sexually or physically) before age 8
