Warm the Gallbladder Decoction
Regulates Qi, transforms phlegm, clears GB, harmonizes the ST. For Phlegm-heat pattern, with phlegm-heat accumulation in the interior with disharmony between the GB and ST with Qi stagnation.
Zhu Ru; Zhi SHi; Ban Xia, Chen Pi, Fu Ling, Zhi Gan Cao; Sheng Jiang
Qing Qi Hua Tan Wan ***
Clear the Qi and Transform Phlegm Pill
Clears Heat, transforms phlegm, directs rebellious Qi down, stops coughing. For internal clumping of phlegm heat in the LU, which obstructs the descent of LU Qi.
Dan Nan Xing; Huang Qin, Gua Lou Ren; Zhi Shi, Chen Pi, Fu Ling, Ban Xia, Xing Ren. NOT w/ yin Xu, dryness, or wind-cold.
Er Chen Tang ***
Two-aged Decoction
Dries dampness, transforms phlegm, regulates Qi, and harmonizes the middle Jiao. For damp-phlegm patterns d/t accumulation in the interior from SP and LU failing to transform and transport the fluids.
Ban Xi, Ju Hong (or Chen Pi); Fu Ling, Zhi Gan Cao; Sheng Jiang, Wu Mei. NOT w/LU yin Xu or dryness.
Bei Mu Gua Lou San **
Fritillaries and Trichosanthes Fruit Powder
Moistens LU, clears heat, regulates Qi, and transforms phlegm. For Phlegm-dryness in the LU, when phlegm-dryness is stuck or trapped in the LU and interrupts the flow of LU Qi.
Chuan Bei Mu; Gua Lou; Tian Hua Fen, Fu Ling, Ju Hong, Jie Geng. NOT with LU or KD yin Xu, warm dryness injuring the LU, or empty heat.
San Zi Yang Qin Tang ***
Three-Seed Decoction to Nourish One’s Parent’s
Directs Qi downward, transforms phlegm, and reduces harbor end food. For Coughing and wheezing disorders, d,t phlegm-cold clogging the LU with Qi and food stagnation.
Bai Jie Zi, Zi Su Zi, Lai Fu Zi.
MOSTLY treats branch, not root.
Ban Xia Bai Zhu Tian Ma Tan ***
Pinellia, White Atractylodes, and Gastrodia Decoction
Strengthens SP, dispels dampness, transforms phlegm, and extinguishes wind. For wind phlegm dizziness, vertigo, or HA d/o. When upward wind-phlegm veils the clear-yang and disturbs the sense orifices with underlying SP Xu and LYR as wind.
Ban Xia, Tian Ma; Bai Zhu; Fu Ling, Chen Pi, Sheng Jiang, Da Zao; Gan Cao. NOT w/LV or KD yin Xu or Qi and blood Xu.
Zhi Sou San ***
Stop Coughing Powder
Stops coughing, transforms phlegm, disperses the exterior, and disseminates LU Qi. For lingering cough d/t exterior disorder, with wind-phlegm lodged in the LU constraining the LU preventing descent of LU Qi.
Zi Wan, Bai Bu; Bai Qian, Ji Geng; Chen Pi, Jing Jie; Gan Cao. NOT w/ yin Xu or heat in the LU.
