Outline what asthma is, and it’s cause
Asthma is a hereditary condition and is a reaction to allergens deep inside the sensitive airways of the lungs and alveoli, which causes muscles to constrict, excess, mucus and swelling
What are the symptoms of asthma?
Wheeze with shortness of breath, dry cough, feeling faint, feeling weak, passing out
How do you diagnose and monitor asthma?
Peak flow, meter readings, stethoscope, listening
How do you treat asthma?
Preventer Ventolin, reliever Ventolin nebuliser, steroid tablets
Outline what coronary obstructive, pulmonary disease is, COPD
COPD is a condition of the lungs with small sacs, the Avola and fine bronchiole touch to die off and not work. Cause can be smoking.
What are the symptoms of COPD?
Wheeze with shortness of breath, dry cough, feeling faint, feeling weak, passing out
How do you diagnose and monitor COPD
Peak flows by perimeter, stethoscope, oxygen stats
How do you treat COPD?
Oxygen therapy, use wheelchair relieve Ventolin, nebuliser and steroid tablets
Outline pneumonia, and it’s cause
Pneumonia is an infection in one or both lungs that can be caused by bacteria, virus or fungi. It causes inflammation of the airways and Alviola and fill them with mucus.
What are the symptoms of pneumonia?
Wheeze, dry cough, shortness of breath/panting, feeling faint, severe chest pain
How do you diagnose and monitor pneumonia?
Chest x-ray, listening through a stethoscope
How do you treat pneumonia?
Antibiotics, rest and keep warm
