First step

A

Cover wound with sterile gauze or pad, apply direct pressure to wound until bleeding stops.If blood soaks through, gauze, put another layer on top, don’t remove the old one. Put more than before on. May take several minutes for bleeding to stop.

A

Check for circulation-feeling, warmth, color-beyond injury.

How to apply roller bandage

A

Wrap bandage around wound several times to hold gauze in place, then use tape to secure it. Check for circulation beyond injury, if there’s a change in circulation-means bandage is too tight- gently loosen it.

A

Rinse and wash hands. Remove gloves.
