give some differences between a smooth walk and a tango walk
-In the smooth walk the feet are kept in contact with the floor.
-tango feet are picked up and placed
-no rise and fall in tango
-knees are slightly flexed

Are there any optional ways of dancing the tango basic?
yes. Step 2 may be taken outside partner
In the backward walk is the foot picked up and placed in position to the same extent as in the forward walk?
No. such movement would look ugly and forced
How do you indicate to the lady that your intention in to step outside partner?
by taking the preceding step with a left-side lead
How many ways can the tango close be danced?
three. with no turn. 1/8 to the left
When dancing the promenade basic as a lady what happens to the RF at the end of step 2?
step 2 is a pivot and is held behind the LF on its own track
When dancing a corte as a man, is the RF on step 1 held in place?
No. the RF will move slightly back. this should not be a deliberate action but a reaction caused by the slight “sitting” action on step 1. The RF will then be picked up and placed forward to continue with the figure. make sure step is taken on the heel
The knees are more relaxed in tango. does that mean the movement is soft?
No. tension is. kept in the muscles of the legs even though the knees are relaxed. movement is firm
is the body swing used in tango?
no
Give a description of the open fan as a lady
-steps 1-2 of promenade basic turning left.
-RF back turning left into tango close ending in right open position.
-RF forward swiveling right and point LF back without weight in open promenade position.
- steps 2-5 of the promenade basic turning left regaining normal dance hold with the left hand on step 7

Is there an optional way of dancing the open fan?
Yes. Steps 1-2 fo the promenade basic turning right on step two to end backing DC.
-LF back turning lady to her left and releasing the right-hand hold. RF to side and close LF to RF without weight to end in right open position. Continue with steps 6-10 of the normal open fan to end facing LOD
Dance and give the footwork for steps 1-3 of the right side fan as lady
- Ball, heel 2. whole foot 3. heel ball
why is step three in right side fan as a lady heel ball?
because she is swiveling to the right on the ball of the right foot
How much turn is the lady dancing between steps 1 and 2 of the right-side fan?
she dances 3/8 to the left between steps 1 and 2 but the body turns less
Name a step where CBM and CBMP are used at the same time.
-step 2 as promenade basic as a lady
-step 3 of the right side fan as a lady

On step 2 of the right side fan, why does the lady have LF to side and slightly forward? Why not to the side?
because The slide and slight forward create a left-side lead which helps her maintain correct body contact while stepping outside partner on the next step
