Build engagement and brand awareness. Attracting without overt advertising.

- Provide customer service
To be successful, businesses have to remember 2 Core aspects of social media: (2)
- Social media is about connection!
- Social media is about content creation.
Business cannot skip the connection part because people have come to expect this from brands.
What is a corporate “Social Media Policy” intended to achieve? (3)
1: Empower employees.
2: Protect the brand: Advice for brand tone continuity.
3: Protect against legal risk.
Social Media Engagement Goals (4):
- Increase brand awareness, recognition, and trust.
- Provides value for customers and/or followers (sharing information that will help them or letting them know about a product that will help them, not just pitching)
- Connect with customers and help them (followers see how we are relatable and authentic).
- Get people to become followers, fans, advocates.
Prepare to post steps (4):
- Understand your brand.
- Establish some goals for your post (every piece of content should be part of a larger strategy even a fun one-off post). (S.M.A.R.T. goal: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound).
- Know your audience.
- Choose your platform (each one has different audiences & content-types so adjust for each if repurposing content across platforms).

- Call-To-Action & Links

How to use Text in a Post (8):
1: Align with your brand’s “voice.”
2: Tell a story (Hero’s Journey)
3: Focus on “You” (creates engagement with your audience, show how you help them achieve their goals instead of talking about myself).
4: Ask a question. (Rhetorical or asking them to respond in comments or in poll.)
5: Include a clear Call-To-Action (CTA).
6: Use an active voice with straight-forward, confident language. (“We can help you!”)
7: Use hashtags (<10), mentions, and URLS.
8: Use emojis and special fonts (but don’t overdo it).

How to use Images in Posts (9):
1: Let brand visual identity guide your image choices.
2: Tell a story.
3: In general, use the Rule of Thirds, or
4: Use symmetry for STARK visual effect (no gridlines native in IG, but you can turn it on in your phones camera settings).
5: Use good (natural) light. Golden hour.
6: **Put some SPACE around your subject so that viewers focus on it.
7: Experiment with angles. (below or aerial)
8: Use lead lines lines that draw the eye towards the subject and tell viewer what to look at.
9: INCLUDE ALT-TEXT! (description of what’s in the video for anyone who is visually impaired)

1: Create for the intended platform
2: Storytelling is key.
3: Focus on the subject
4: Good lighting (natural is best).
5: Good quality sound /microphone.
6: Stabilize your camera (tripod).
7: Shoot vertically (portrait).
8: Catch attention in the first 5 seconds.
9: Create with sound off and include captions (delight with sound on).
