Difference between visual perceptual, perceptual motor & visual cognitive skills Flashcards
Visual perception
responsible for reception & cognition of visual stimuli
Importance of visual perception
■ inorder to interact with environment, one must be able to analyze, interpret and use the visual information
■ is usually assessed in school through observation during class activities such as playing with puzzles, reading and matching and discriminating objects and shapes.
Visual cognitive skills
used for extraction and organizing visual information then integrating
it with other sensory modalities
Importance of visual cognitive skills
to plan the movement sequence but the vision to be able to
obtain information about the environment to accurately negotiate it
Perceptual motor
monitor movement that supplies feedback
importance of perceptual motor
With vision this requires reaching for an object and having the perceptual motor control to hit the target but also need vision to be accurate
