What are macronutrients?
Types of food you need in large amounts in your diet: carbohydrates, fats and proteins
What are the two types of carbohydrates?
Complex and simple
What are complex carbohydrates?
Found in natural foods. Food of this type helps provide energy for exercise and should form half of your daily intake
What are simple sugars?
Found in their natural form in fruit and veg and in their refined form in biscuits, cakes, chocolate and confictionary
Why are fats important?
Fats are important because they provide energy and, together with glycogen, helps muscle to work.
What do proteins do?
Proteins are important to help build muscles and to repair damaged tissue
Why is a balanced supply of vitamins essential?
So the body can function properly.
What is dehydration?
The loss of water and salts essential for the normal body functions
What is the definition of Hydrate.
Take on water
