Last Supper
The final meal Christ ever ate on Earth. Created the Eucharist and Holy Orders at this event.
Ascension
Christ going up to Heaven after giving His final message to the Apostles.
Transfiguration
When Jesus appeared with the ascended Moses and Elijah on Mt. Tabor in front of John, Peter, and James.
Passion
The various events leading up to Christ’s death and our redemption.
Descent of the Holy Spirit
Also known as Pentecost. The traditional birthday of Christianity and when the Apostles were given grace to preach Jesus’ name.
Agony in the Garden
Jesus’ extreme pain while alone in Gethsemane and the beginning of His passion.
Temptation in the Desert
A time of fasting for 40 days for Jesus, during which time he was tempted by the devil. The first version of Lent.
Crucifixion
A Roman form of execution in which the person to die has his hands and feet nailed to a large wooden cross that was placed in the ground, during which time he would suffocate.
Resurrection
Christ coming back from the dead on His own will after three days of post mortem.
Stations of the Cross
The last phases and part of the aftermath of the Passion, divided into 14 (and sometimes 15) “stations”.
Kenosis
The Greek word for “emptying”, referring to Jesus emptying part of His divinity and taking up some humanity.
Suffering Servant
Christ’s death on the Cross fulfilling a Messianic prophecy, this prophecy being Isaiah 53
