What is type 2 diabetes
A
Most common form
Common in elderly
Pt’s normally obese
Can be caused by poor diet, sedentary lifestyle
Usually controlled with diet & medication but some may need insulin

What is type 1 diabetes
A
Occurs mainly in children and young adults. Lack or absence of insulin due to destruction of islet cells in pancreas. Unknown causes however thought to be genetic.
Insulin dependant

S&S of Hypoglycaemia
A
Rapid onset Pale/sweaty skin Agitated/aggressive and confused Normal to shallow Rr Rapid full Hr Hunger
