  • ID develops from birth, pleasure principle aims to gain immediate reward, if demands are blocked/ not satisfied- fustration, if have a dominant ID adulthood personality- agressive and impulsive
  • phallc stage develops ages 3-6,- superego where we internalise with our parents during phallic stage, weak superego can develop from absence of same sex parent, this means we ignore commands from superego and act to satisfy the ID, leading to morals not internalised - committing crimes

strength: bowlby 44 theirs reported that 39% of delinquent juveniles had significant disruptions from attachments during childhood, e.g. from same sex parent compared to only 5% non-delinquent
