A

What is aid

A

Aid is the voluntary transfer of resources from one country(usually developed) to another(usually developing) for altruistic purposes.

A

Resources that are given by rich countries to supra- national organisations such as the United Nations. Then given to recipient countries..

What is foreign direct investment?(FDI)

A

Foreign direct investment is when businesses in one country put money into businesses in another country. This is not aid-it is a commercial transaction with a view to make profit.

What is an example of foreign direct investment?

A

Chinese firms have high levels of investment in many countries in Africa since 2000. China have brought benefits to the continent, infrastructure and better services . In return China is able to secure good trade deals that allow it to extract Africa’s valuable natural resources. It also gives China increasing geopolitical power on a world stage and has seen Africa become a huge and growing market for Chinese produced goods.
