DES Perf Flashcards
What information is given below the perf page tabs?
Destination Airport
Approach Ident
Landing Weight
How can you use the wind input to gross error check the correct arrival has been loaded?
The FMS will compute and display a TL indicating a tailwind. Remember the max tailwind limit of 10 kts or <5 variable for T&G
When will the destination airport QNH & Temperature show 4 blue dashes?
When no landing airport is defined or if the destination airport is > 180nm away from the AC
What is Geometric altitude?
Definition of Geometric Altitude: Geometric altitude is a computed aircraft altitude used by onboard EGPWS Terrain Awareness and Display systems.
Geometric altitude is used to allow a pilot to continue operation and determine altitude when one or more of the standard pilot altitude measurements is not available.
Define QNH & QFE
QNH = Altitude above Sea Level
Remember to add airfield elevation to Take Off & Appr SOPs
QFE = Height above ground
When will the inserted minima turn amber on the appr page?
WHen the APPR phase is active in the FMS or the ALS modes are armed (APPR pb pressed on AFS CP) but the navigation performance is not compatible with the inserted minima
Note that the Min DA/DH may be show below the input field.
When would you consider using FLAP 4 for an approach
If joining the visual circuit from a T&G.
crosswind > 35Kts?
If calculated perf suggests.
What does the vertical deviation value indicate?
the difference between current altitude and the altitude of the computed descent/approach profile.
