CLB Perf Flashcards
Name & explain the three main flight criteria modes.
LONG RANGE: Speed/mach that enables a specific consumption 1% above the minimum specific fuel consumption (Relative to Max Range)
MAX SPEED: Speed/mach that enables the minimum time in the selected flight phase (Climb, En route, Descent).
MAX ENDURANCE: Speed/mach that enables minimum fuel flow and therefore maximises flight time.
Note: in an EO situation, the FMS will only considers LONG RANGE.
Define LNC and what selecting it in the CLB perf page achieves.
LNC mode reduces the power rating of the propellers to reduces noise which improves passenger comfort in the cargo bay.
Selecting in Perf page only updates FMS predictions. LNC can only be activated with the pb.
CRZ FL/Alt
Ensure inserted correct as per flight plan and updated if final cruize level changes
Selected mode SOP
We typically operated in MGD speed as it will cater for speed restrictions along a MID/SID. However, a selected speed can be inserted if required.
Define
Managed - EO GDOT
Managed - CLB SPD LIM
Managed - SPD CSTR
Managed - HOLD SPD
Managed - RTA
All indicate that managed is the active mode and:
Managed - EO GDOT = Mgd speed target is Green dot
Managed - CLB SPD LIM = Mgd speed target is the clb speed limit
Managed - SPD CSTR = Mgd speed target is a speed constraint
Managed - HOLD SPD = Mgd speed target is the hold speed
Managed - RTA = Mgd speed is the Required Time Arrival (RTA) speed
Managed speed restriction examples:
CLB SPD LIM _ 250KT / 10000FT
HOLD SPD _ 260KT / AGN
SPD CSTR _ 270KT / LMG
CLB SPD LIM _ 250KT / 10000FT
- Indicates climb speed limit & end altitude
HOLD SPD _ 260KT / AGN
- Indicates hold speed and entry fix
SPD CSTR _ 270KT / LMG
- Indicates speed constraint and the end waypoint.
Explain what the SPD CSTR button allows the crew to do.
Allows the crew to insert the following:
RTA panel - Manage Required Time Arrival (RTA) at way points or Estimated Takeoff Time (ETT)
SPD Panel - Manage speed constraints at way points and manage climb/descent limits
ALT Panel - Manage altitude constraints at a way point.
