Small pus filled elevation of skin
ie. Pimples
Pustule
Larger versions of a pustule
Furuncles, carbuncles, and abscesses.
Flaky skin, keratinized cells
Ie. Dandruff, seborrhea, psoriasis
Scales
Dried serum, blood or purulent exudates
Ie. Weeping exzema
Crust
Rough, thickened epidermis with accentuated skin markings.
Eg. Chronic dermatitis
Lichenification
Fine irregular superficial capillary dilations.
Ie. Rosacea
Telangiectasis
Linear, crusted loss of epidermis/dermis
Eg. Abrasion or scratch
Excoriation
Loss of some epidermis
Eg. Sun damaged skin
Erosion
Linear crack extending into the dermis
Ie. Athlete’s foot
Fissure
Skin concavity involving epidermis and dermis
Ie. Bed sores
Ulcer
