Erythema nodosum healing?
Heal without scarring within 1-2 months. Erythema nodosum is a type of panniculitis, an inflammation of the subcutaneous fat. It typically presents as painful, erythematous nodules on the shins and is usually self-limiting. In most cases, the lesions will resolve spontaneously without scarring within 1-2 months.
Causes of Erythema nodosum??
-infection
streptococci
tuberculosis
brucellosis
-systemic disease
sarcoidosis
inflammatory bowel disease
Behcet’s
malignancy/lymphoma
-drugs
penicillins
sulphonamides
combined oral contraceptive pill
-pregnancy
A pt with symmetrical facial rash (excessive pustules and papules) on nose cheeks and forehead for 12 months. diagnosis and treatment??
Rosacea type 2 (papulopustular)
Treat with oral doxycycline + topical ivermectin 1%..
What should not be given in rosacea??
LOW dose CS
{Steroids can exacerbate the symptoms}
Calciphylaxis lesion??
Intensely painful, purpuric patches with an area of black necrotic tissue that may form bullae, ulcerate, and leave a hard, firm eschar
