Q

Dermaplaning protocol

A

1) cleanse the face, apply a warm, moist towel( can do second cleanse if there is still residue of makeup, dirt or debris), skin should be completely clean. Alcohol swab after cleansing
2) prepare the scalpel by firmly attaching the 10-gauge tip to the appropriate handle with tweezers or Pilers
3) be sure to have a face mask, gloves & have gauze nearby.
4) divide the face into 6 sections: forehead, left & right cheeks, nose, upper lip, chin & neck
5) with your free hand, hold the skin taut fir a smoother application
6) hold the scalpel at a 45-degree angle, use long strokes on each section, lifting the tip between each stroke
7) do not pass over each area more than 3 times, too many oases can crate discomfort for the patient & give them a razor-burn like sensation
8) continue to keep the skin tight as you love to other areas of the face. You can gently move the client in any direction for proper blade application
9) if necessary, after treating the entire face, you can go back over the face with a new blade
10) clean the face with a mild cleanser, avoiding anything containing acid or exfoliating beads. Thus step may cause tingling in your clients, which is perfectly normal.
11) apply a warm, wet cloth to the client’s skin. Let it sit for 30 secs
12) apply a pea sized amount of dermal moisturizer, and then apply SPF 50
13) review aftercare with the client, as well as recommended products for the next 7 days
