Definition:
Arbovirosis transmitted by mosquito Aedes aegypti
Epidemiology:
Most common arbovirosis.
Etiology:
4 serotypes of dengue virus (DENV), RNA Flavivirus genus
Family and Genus of the virus:
Family Flaviviridae and genus Flavivirus
RNA type:
Single-stranded
Envelope and Nucleocapsid types:
Lipid envelope and an icosahedral nucleocapsid
Vetor:
Mosquito Aedes aegypti
Pathophysiology:
Bite of a female infected Aedes ->
Classification (2014):
Dengue, Dengue with alarm signals and Severe Dengue;
Classic and Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever I-IV
Abrupt high fever that lasts 2-7d, headache, Retro-orbital pain, nausea and vomiting, weakness, arthralgias, myalgias and maculopapular rash:
Classic Dengue
Fever that lasts untill 7d and 2+ symptoms of Classic Dengue, with epidemiologic history and in a transmission area in the last 15d:
Suspect case
Every suspect case needs:
Notified to the epidemiological vigilance
Dengue Fever:
Abrupt high fever that lasts 2-7d
Fever that lasts longer than 10 days:
Probably not due to dengue
Dengue Rash:
Maculopapular rash over the face, thorax and flexor surfaces, with islands of skin sparing
Appearance and persist of the rash:
Begins on day 3 and persists 2-3d
Intense and continuous abdominal pain, persisting vomiting, postural hypotension or lipothymy, dolorous hepatomegaly, hematemesis or melena, drowsiness or irritability, oliguria, hypotermia, high Hematocrit, abrupt plaquetopenia and respiratory disconfort:
Alarm signals
Classic presentation + hemorrhagic manifestations, plaquetopenia, cavitary derrame or hypoproteinemia:
