In 2022, Lizz Truss defeated Rishi Sunak for the leadership of cons party by 57% to 43% , in 2020 Sir Keir Starmer was elected leader of the Labour party with 56% of the vote of party members (election of party leaderships)
Against ( gives too much influence to radical leaders ) Labour party members reelected Jeremy Corbyn in 2016 by 61.8% even though Labour Mps had previously passed a vote of no confidence by a staggering 172/40.
Against - Theresea May was a supporter of Remain in 2016 referendum but went on to lead a government committed to withdrawing from the EU
