laws apply to everyone including leaders, the wealthy, and the powerful
laws should be known by everyone
what is common good?
decisions made based on the best interests of people in a society such as peace, justice, safety, economic stability
what is majority rule?
what is wanted by most people is what is chosen when making decisions
laws should be created based on what most people want
what are minority rights?
people who do not have the same opinions as the majority still get rights which are protected by the majority
