Belt - most thorough, used by large regular Armt units. AOs are broken up into “belts” that are seperated by phase lines (often distinguishable terrain)
Avenues in depth - used by armor and maneauver units
Box - used by SF, best for time constraint planning, focuses on the objective

What is IPB?
A systematic process of analyzing the enemy, terrain, weather, and civil considerations in an area of interest to determine their effects on the operations

When does risk managment begin during MDMP?
During step 2 mission analysis
What is a problem?
An issue or obstacle that makes it difficult to achieve a desired goal or objective
What is the commanders intent and what purpose does it serve?
A clear and concise statement of what the force must do and the conditions they must meet to succeed with respect to the threat, terrain, and desired state

What is a problem statement?
A description of the primary issue(s) that may impede the commanders from achieving their desired end state
What do implied tasks support?
Specified tasks and the mission
