Day 7 - Tissues Flashcards
It is composed of groups of similar cells that perform a specific function.
Tissues
It has 1 cell and it is classified as the lower forms
Unicellular Organism
It is composed of multiple number of cells. It is at the higher form of cell
Multicellular
What are the animal tissues?
Epithelial tissues
Muscular
Connective
Nervous
It is an animal tissue that covers body’s internal and external forces. It is for protection, nutrient absorption and secretion.
Epithelial tissue
What are the epithelium cells that are classified by the number of its layers?
Simple and Stratified
What is the difference between simple and stratified epithelium?
Simple has only 1 stack of cells while stratified has 2 or more stacks.
What are the different epithelium tissues according to its shape?
Squamous, Cuboidal, Columnar, Ciliated
What are the difference between Squamous, Cuboidal, Columnar, Ciliated?
Squamous - flattened
Cuboidal - cube
Columnar - tall and thin
Ciliated - either columnar or cuboidal
It has single layer of flat cells with oval nuclei. It is located at the lungs or blood vessels because it has an easy way for oxygen to pass through.
Simple Squamous Epithelium
It is roughly cuboidal and has spherical nucleus. It is secretive and adaptive
Simple cuboidal epithelium
It is elongated with elongated nuclei. It has a sensory perception and it is also absorptive
Simple Columnar
It is the tissue that is responsible for contraction and movement.
Muscular Tissue
It is elongated and arranged in parallel ways and it is composed of cytoplasm, sarcoplasm and sarcolemma
Muscle Fiber
Myofibril has 2 contractile proteins called?
Actin and Myosin
What are the different muscle tissues based on location?
Skeletal, Visceral/Smooth, Cardiac
This muscular tissue is attached to the bones.
Skeletal Tissue
This tissue is found at the walls of hollow internal structures.
Visceral/ Smooth
This muscular tissue is found in the heart. It contracts and pumps blood.
Cardiac muscles
What are the muscular tissue based on appearance?
Striated and unstriated
What is striated and unstriated?
Striated has cross striations while unstriated has none
What are the muscle tissue based on neural control?
Voluntary and Involuntary Muscles
What is the difference between voluntary and involuntary muscles?
Voluntary is found outside of the skeleton and it is controlled by a person
Involuntary is not controlled and it is usually internal organs
It has a long filament with many elongated nuclei. It also has many striations of the dark and light cross bands
Skeletal Muscle
It is a spindle shaped cell found in the walls of visceral organs and it has no striations.
Smooth Tissue
It is striated and involuntary. It has a lot of nuclei and has cross striation and unique dark bands.
Cardiac muscle
