Day 5 - Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic Cells Flashcards
It is a single celled organisms that lacks of nucleus and other membrane bounded organelle. The DNA is not bound within the nucleus
Prokaryotic cell
This is the oldest life form on earth.
Bacteria
It is a membrane bounded organelles/nucleus that encloses its genetic material. DNA is within the nucleus and its organized into chromosomes.
Eukaryotic cells
It is composed of both RNA and protein. Prokaryotic cells have less of this than the eukaryotic cells. This is responsible for the process of protein synthesis.
Ribosome
It is the outer boundary of the cell and it isolates cell’s contents from the environment. It is semi permeable barrier that determine which nutrients are allowed to enter. Both Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes have this.
Plasma Membrane
It provides turgor pressure to plant cell as fluid inside the central vacuole. It is the site for all metabolic process/reaction and all regions where all organelles are located. Both Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes have this.
Cytoplasm
Differentiate Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic cells.
Eukaryotes have true membrane bounded nucleus. Eukaryotes have lysosomes and peroxisomes, microtubule, ER, Ribosomes, Chloroplast
Prokaryotes doesn’t have true chromosomes (plasmid). It has lesser ribosomes and it also has flagella.
