What legislation is applicatable to data management and data access
Data Protection Act 2018 - it is the UK’s implementation of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). They are designed to protects individual rights regarding the processing and storage of their personal data.
What are the ‘data protection principles’ under the Data Protection Act 2018
Lawfulness, fairness, and transparency: Personal data must be processed lawfully, fairly, and in a transparent manner. This means that individuals must be informed about how their data is being processed, and the processing must be carried out in accordance with the law.
Purpose limitation: Personal data must be collected for specified, explicit, and legitimate purposes, and must not be processed in a way that is incompatible with those purposes.
Data minimization: Personal data must be adequate, relevant, and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which it is processed.
Accuracy: Personal data must be accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date.
Storage limitation: Personal data must not be kept in a form which permits identification of data subjects for longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the data is processed.
Integrity and confidentiality: Personal data must be processed in a way that ensures appropriate security
What are the key persons outlined in GDPR?
Data subject - person whose personal data it is
Datat Protection Authority - national authority responsible for implementing GDPR
Data Protection Officer - individual within organisation responsible for datat protection compliance
Data Controller - person who decide the purpose for the data and the way it is processed
Data Processor - person or third party that processes the data on behalf of the controller
What is BCIS?

When could you use BCIS?
