Data Flashcards
Quantative data
Data expressed numerically
Can be gained from individual scroes in experiments
Such as number of words recalled or number of seconds it takes to complete a task
Or from self report methods use of closed questions
Quntative strength
Simple to analyse allowing comparisons to be made
Patterns and trends to be established thus easier to make conclusions about behaviour
Whereas qualitative data is wordy and more difficult to statistically summarise
Quantative limitation
Lacks depth and meaning especially when behaviour is complex
Prevents participants from being able to develop thoughts, feelings and opinions this reduces internal validity
Whereas qualitative data is rich in detail providing greater understanding of human behaviour
