Dash One Sxn 6 Flashcards
What does the stab augmentor system do?
Automatically damps out yaw short period oscillations
In what Mach range may abrupt forward or aft ddeflection (pulsing) of the stick cause over-G?
Mach 0.80-0.95
What does the bobweight do?
It is a part of the horizontal tail control system and it increases stick forces under g loads but the pilot will not feel the effect of it until the aircraft responds to the stick movement.
How much stick travel provides 1/2 aileron deflection? Full aileron deflection?
4.5 inches for 1/2 aileron; 1.5 inches more for full deflection (6 inches total)
What does having an external store do?
Shifts CG forward, which results in increased rotation and liftoff speeds, less trim authority, less aerobraking and flare deceleration, and higher aft stick forces
What is the best airspeed to maintain at a minimum until configuring for maneuvering and handling qualities?
300 KCAS
Where do minimum stick forces per g occur?
At approximately Mach 0.9
Where can you have severe pilot induced oscillations?
High subsonic low altitude flight
How should you fix pilot induced oscillations if you encounter them?
Release the stick to allow the aircraft to damp itself out, or if at low altitude or close to another aircraft, hold back pressure on the stick. Also reducing a/s will help
What’s more effective at low AOA?
Ailerons
What’s more effective at high AOA?
Rudders
What’s a caution with using rudder with the gear down?
Using sustained 30 deg rudder deflection at high AOA may result in violent roll and engine flameout
What limits should you use to evaluate an over-g for jetwash?
Asymmetric
What indicates the stall for this aircraft the most?
A very high sink rate and airframe buffet
How should you correct post stall gyrations?
Neutralize the controls smoothly until the aircraft recovers
