Dash 1 Section 2 Flashcards
Where can you find flight planning data such as T/O performance, fuel required, cruise data etc?
Performance charts in App A of the Dash 1
What are some actions which require crew coordination?
Canopy operation, brakes, radio comm and tuning, GPS and EFIS tuning.
Preflight briefing should include what four things?
- Comm and crew coordination
- Weather
- Nav and flight planning
- Emergencies
True/False. Procedures accomplished during a Strange Field preflight inspection need not be reaccomplished during Before Exterior Inspection.
True.
What annunciators may you see upon initial power application?
CANOPY, GEN, OBOGS FAIL, FUEL PX, OIL FX, TAD FAIL, TAD OFF, HYDR FL LO (C GO FOT TH FLLO)
Which annunciators upon initial power application should go out when the MASTER WARN/CAUTION switchlights are depressed?
Aural warning, PMU FAIL, PMU STATUS, HYDR FL LO, TAD FAIL
What is the normal emergency oxygen cylinder charge and at what temperature?
1800 psi at 70 deg F
How can the emergency oxygen pressure be adjusted according to temperature?
Add or subtract 3.5 psi for every degree the temperature is above or below 70 deg F.
What is main gear strut extension?
2 inches
What is the minimum strut extension on the nose gear?
2.5 inches
What is the delay between seats upon ejection?
The front seat goes 0.37 s after the rear seat.
Which direction should the control stick boot collar face during RCP (solo) tie-down?
It should face forward.
What should you do with the rear cockpit GPS during solo (RCP tie-down)?
Set it as required. If it’s off, the FCP GPS will continually display a message.
What does external power do for the starts?
Provides a lower ITT during start, and preserves battery life.
What can you expect upon turning on the battery?
A burst of air from the blower because the avionics capacitors are discharging stored up energy.
What two things are you checking for when you turn on the PROBES and BOOST PUMP switches?
1) . Amperage draw
2) . Annunciator light
How do you get best cockpit cooling at altitudes below 7500’ MSL?
Set RAM AIR FLOW switch to OFF and set the TEMP controller as necessary.
Where is the IOAT sensor?
In the engine inlet plenum.
What happens when the IOAT is between 96 and 121 deg C?
The PMU will default to 121 deg C for all functions.
What occurs when the PMU is activated with IOAT above 96 deg C?
IOAT and ITT info will be invalid (dashed out) and it will read EDM FAIL at the bottom of the screen.
What does the EDM FAIL message indicate?
That the system has accommodated a fault. Only dashed out values are invalid.
What happens if the IOAT is above 121 deg C?
The PMU will go offline, followed by a PMU FAIL annunciator and will not reset until IOAT is below 121 deg C.
Can you rotate the propeller by hand to reduce the IOAT?
Never. Only to check prop blade condition during the exterior checklist.
How much clearance is needed in front of and around the aircraft?
10 ft radius circle around prop, 3 feet on either sides of the aircraft behind the wings (above IDLE power).
