D&D Flashcards
1
Q
Histamine
A
Released by: mast cells, basophils, plats Fxn: arterial dilation, endothelial contraction Due to: -Physical -Immune (binding of IgE) -Compliment (C3a, C5a) -Leuks histamine releasing proteins -Cytokines (IL1, IL8)
2
Q
Serotonin
A
In: plat granules
fxn: aid in clotting
3
Q
Arachidonic Acid metabolites
A
Source: leuks, mast, endothelium, plats
From cell membrane phospholipids
=Cmps that mediate inflam & hemostasis
2 activation pathways:
i. Cycooxygenase –> PG & TX
PG (vasodilation, stop plat aggregation)
Tx (vasoconstriction, increase plat aggregation
ii. Lipoxygenase –> leukotrienes, lipoxins
Leukotrienes (BV perm, leuk activation)
Lipoxins (X adhesion, anti-inflam)
4
Q
Cox1
A
- constitutive actions (always being produced)
- Plats: TXA2–> pro aggregation
- GI: PG–> ^ contractions, decrease acid secretion
- Kidneys: PG–> ^ renal blood flow (diuresis)
- BV smooth m: PG (dilation), TXA2 (constrict)
