What does current electricity consist of?
A continuous flow of electrons
What does current electricity require?
A source of electrons and a pathway to carry or conduct them
For current electricity what might the source of electrons be?
A cell or a generator
In current electricity what does cell do?
Stores energy and transfers it to electrical energy when the circuit is complete and continuous
What to do two or more cells connected in a circuit make?
A battery
What conducts electrons between terminals of the source [contains free ions]
Electrolyte
What is a wet cell?
Voltaic cells
Electrolyte is an ionic solution
What is a dry cell?
Electrolyte is a dry paste
What is a primary cell?
Non-rechargeable
It is a secondary cell?
Rechargeable
Why does current electricity flow?
Because there is a difference in electrical pressure or potential between two points along a conductor
What is voltage?
Potential difference
What is a load?
Something that is part of the pathway of electrons [lightbulb]
What do loads do?
Use energy of the electrons and convert it to a Nother form such as heat, sound, light etc.
What happens without a load?
Electrons return to their source and energy builds up. Called a short circuit
