Where is Bed ZED located, what has it pionerred?
A
2002 1st UK sustainable community in S London, 100 homes+office space+college. It inspired developments in Copenhagen Denmark + Frieburg Germany

A
- Local materials 52% within 35 miles
- Built using 15% reclaimed materials on an old brownfield site
- Insulated and well ventilated.
- Solar panels + A++ energy appliances
- Car club -Green space -Water saving.

What are the positives to living there?
A
S= strong community know 20 neighbours vs 8 average E= 4 quid cheaper than other houses per DAY! En= 0 CARBON footprint, sustainable LT significance temporal and spatial. 81% less energy than normal fails

What are the negatives to the project?
A
It’s only 100 homes, we need Large scale LT CHANGE.
Down south, still expensive.

Overall conclusion on the project…
A
Though its small it was a revolutionary blueprint which inspired global projects and showed it IS POSSIBLE!! But its only MI due to its limited spatial scale.
