- inforstructure = birmingham have direct flights to china and india, to support fdi, jobs went up 50% in 2013 compared to a national 11%
- land use zoning = caimbridge science park attracting high tech companies eg: astra zeneca from sweden
- regeneration = dubai from a small fishing village, to a hub city attracting talented people and businesses that wanna have these talented people

planners = strategic over view eg: assessing impacts
artichecs = desinging things to please people and reflect history and culture

- properties were built poorly and quickly eg: manchester
- leads to a lack of respect for an area
- isolation
- crime and vandalism
- poor quality of life

24 hour city
London as a 24 hour city
- due to increased population, tourism, people woring shifts and globalisation
- mayor of the night
- 24 hour economy = more money
- globalisation = people need to eat and transport at different times due to meetings suring the night
- attracts young population = spends the most money due to having the most disposable income
