1200 - small port
1800 - larger port due to ship manufacturing meaning cod fishing and whaling occoured in the atlantic
1840’s - rich Victorian famils holiday ‘by the sea’ expanding on built environtment = guest houses
1860s- railway built = wider shelfish market ( time space compression - places feel closer due to quicker transport)
1900s - lympostone became a dormatory settlement for exceter
-people lived there and worked in the city
