Q

Other species affected

A

o C. bovis- older calves 2-7 months. Mo clinical disease
o C. canis- usually in puppies less than six months, asymp. Shedding in older dogs. Rarely associated with disease but can cause diarrhea
o C. felis- rarely associated with disease, diarrhea/anorexia in younger kittens, usually subclinical and cats that do have clinical symptoms are likely NOT shedding oocysts
In C. felis, the DH sporulates OUTSIDE OF THE HOST
o Avian hosts: three forms: intestinal, respiratory and renal
*****ZOONOTIC POTENTIAL WITH ALL 3 SPECIES

Q

Are there sporocysts visible on oocyst on a slide?

A

No

17
Q

Difference between C. parvum and C. andersoni is…..

A

C. parvum infects ileum and has PPP 3-6 days and affects NEONATAL cattle
C. andersoni infects abomasum and PPP is 1 week or less and infects MATURE cattle

18
Q

Similarity between C. parvum and C. andersoni

A

they both do not have IH, have spoulated oocysts as infectious state and route of transmission is fecal to oral
