CRISPR CAS-9 Flashcards
Where is CRISPR CAS-9 system found in?
In prokaryotes
What is the CRISPR CAS-9 system
It is a adaptive immune system that learns previous infections from the cell and develop a memory to slice up the same infection.
What is a Crispr Array system
A whole series of spacers
What is the PAM sequence
Any nucleotide , folowed by G G
(Any, GG)
Protospacer Adjacent Motif
What does CAS1 and CAS2 do?
They read the PAM sequence and then cut out a protospacer to be added to the CRISPR ARRAY
What is unique about the repeats?
They are palindromic
What does RNAase do?
Transcribes pre-crRNA
Where does unprocessed tracrRNA bind to?
Repeat reigions
What is cr:tracrRNA reffered to as when binded to CAS-9 protien
gRNA
What does Cas-9 protien do
It binds to PAM sequence, and checks if protospacer is complementary to the gRNA then cuts to disable virus.
what is sgRNA
single Guide RNA, made by scientists to be used on CAS-9 protien for own applications
