What does Genesis 1 tell us?
It describes one of the creation stories in the Bible, where God creates the Universe in 6 days.
What are fundamentalists?
People who believe that the Creation story happend exactly how it is described in the Bible.
What are liberals?
Those who believe that the creation story in Gensis 1 is meant to be taken as a parable or a symbolic account.

What is evidence to suggest the dominion of Man?
Genesis 1:2, “Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground”

It talks about God’s relationship with mankind

Some creations that believe that God was the force that started the Big Bang

Some Christians believe that it the seven days of creation happened throught millions of years, hence evolution
What is stewardship?
The special responsibility given by God to protect and care** for the earth.
Why are we given the responsibility of Stewardship?
Because God gave us the privilege of living on Earth.
What is evidence to suggest stewardship?
In Genesis 2:15, Adam was given the task of looking after the Garden of Eden.

What is dominion?
The belief that humans were given power and authority to rule over the world

What does the Second Vatian Council say about science and religion?
Science and Religion can support each other. Science explains how, Religion explain why.
What are the similarites of Creation of Adam and Hand of God?
- God is the creator
- God is omnipotent
- God is eternal
What are differences of Creation of Adam and Hand of God?
- In creation of Adam God is shown as old
- Creation of Adam talks about relationship between man and God
- In hand of God only the hand is shown to show he is eternal
- It conveys a sense that God is always creating

The Catholic teaching that our knowledge of right and wrong comes from human nature (not society rules)

- Do good and avoid evil
- Protect and preserve life
How can we show stewardship on a local level?
- Reduce the amount of uneccesary rubbish
- Use more public transport
How can we show stewardship on a national level?
- Support and buy enviromentaly friendly products
- Put pressure on politicians to support laws which preserve nature
How can we show stewardship on a global level?
- Boycott multinational companies which aren’t enviromentally friendly
- Put pressure on governments to support enviromental issues

- Natural resources should be preserved (not profised)
- Damaging one elements of nature can affect others
- Catholics should take action to improve the situation

- Encourage people to live simpler
- Work with Sri Lankan farmers in a project called MONLAR
What are three significant values to be taken from the Creation stories?
Stewardship - God expects us to looks after the world with love
Dignity of Humans - God made us in His image so we are all equal
Sanctity of Life - God made us in his image so human life is sacred
