Apply for a CQC-countersigned DBS check - read CQC guidance on obtaining a CQC-countersigned DBS check- This must be done via the Post Office
Write your statement of purpose – Version available on Caremark Network to complete with RSM
Make sure your business premises are ready and fit for purpose
Decide which regulated activities you are going to provide
Read and understand the provider guidance for your sector
How long does it take to complete the application process
Filling in the form could take up to one working day
Write a Statement of Purpose = 2 to 3 hours – several days to prepare
Carry out DBS checks = up to 8 weeks
Making sure premises are ready - may take several weeks
Describe the characteristics of a Nominated Individual
Is of good character.
Is able to properly perform tasks that are intrinsic to their role.
Has the necessary qualifications, competence, skills and experience to supervise the management of the regulated activity.
Has supplied documents that confirm their suitability.
Describe the Care Manger
A registered manager is the person appointed by the provider to manage the regulated activity on their behalf, where the provider is not going to be in day-to-day charge of the regulated activities themselves.
As a registered person, the registered manager has legal responsibilities in relation to that position.
A registered manager shares the legal responsibility for meeting the requirements of the relevant regulations and enactments with the provider.

CQC should validate application within 5 days

Notice of Decision within 10 weeks from validation date, if no delays
