Describe the Care Certificate

A

Care certificate
o Care certificate must be incorporated into a csw induction
o Care certificate must be completed by all new csw’s who are new to care
o Cqc will want to see evidence that providers are including the completion of the care certificate in induction

Day 1 initial training

o	Completion of mandatory theory training online
	Moving and handling 
	Medication
	Safeguarding vulnerable adults/ children & young people
	Infection control

Day 2 mandatory practical training
 Moving and handling
 Medication

• In-field training/workplace observation
o Field care supervisor supports the care and support worker in the field with introductory visits and observes their work until competent, signing off observations of practice in the training portfolio

• Final sign off of portfolio – within 12 weeks
