clincial manifestaions of Coxiella Burnetii
1) Acute infection –>
- self-limted febril flu-like illness
- Atypical Pneumonia
2) infection in pregnancy –> abortion during the 1st
trimester
3) Chronic Q-fever –> Endocarditis- VASCULAR PROSTHESIS & ANEURYSM INFECTIONS
*Chronic Q-fever Endocarditis –> 100% fatal if untreated
diagnosis of Acute infection caused by Coxilla burnetii
PHASE ll antibodies
Serology –> 4-fold increase in IgG phase ll titers
Diagnosis of Chronic infection
caused by Coxella Burnetii
Phase l antibodies
–> immunihistochemistry, culture, serology, PCR
Transmission of Ehrlichia chaffeensis
