Covalent Bond Flashcards
1
Q
Single Bond:
A
Two atoms that share one electron with each other.
2
Q
Double Bond:
A
Two atoms that share two electrons with each other.
3
Q
Triple Bond:
A
Two atoms that share three electrons with each other.
4
Q
Polar Molecules:
A
The unequal distribution of charges.
Example: A water molecule
5
Q
Hydrogen Bonds (A type of covalent bond)
A
The charged regions on each water molecule are electrically attracted to oppositely charged regions on neighboring molecules. Because the positively charged region in this special bond is always a hydrogen atom, the bond is called a hydrogen bond.
6
Q
Covalent Bonds:
A
Two atoms share one or more pairs odometer-shell electrons. Two or more atoms held together you covalent bonds form a molecule.
